Community Partner Video
Ab Closure's main goal in partnering with Legacy was to help digitize their educational materials, particularly through the use of google classrooms. This would allow them to send the material in a lesson plan layout with the videos, worksheets, and quizzes all in order and in one place. Since Legacy sends their material all across Louisiana, this allows the educators they send it to, to add their specific students to receive their discussion and quiz responses. There is also a classroom for people who have recently been added to the transplant list to learn more about what the transplant process is like.

The video below describes our service with Legacy Donor Foundation.
Legacy Donor Foundation
We partnered with Legacy Donor Foundation, a New Orleans, Louisiana based organ donation education group, as our Community Service Partners since one of the leading complications of abdominal compartment syndrome and delayed abdominal closure is multiple organ failure.

Legacy's mission: Legacy Donor Foundation is a 501c3 nonprofit organization whose mission is to save and heal lives by inspiring Louisiana residents to register as organ, eye and tissue donors. We accomplish this through education, outreach and advocacy. Legacy envisions a culture where all Louisiana citizens are committed to giving LIFE through organ, eye and tissue donation.

Community Interviews
In order to inform our classroom, we interviewed Tulane and Loyola students to learn what people knew and didn't know about organ donation. These were compiled to form a common myths and misconceptions video where two heart transplant recipients answered some of the common misconceptions and questions. This video was posted to all of the google classrooms.
